Questions and answers...
Why is the Cinegnome set so large?
The Geocaching International Film Festival typically includes 15-20 community-produced indie short films. The Cinegnomes aimed to produce their own series of 18 films to join in the celebration of 25 years of geocaching! A film crew can also be very extensive, so the set includes 18 gnomes in the film crew, and a variety of (tiny) film- and cinema-related Geocache Swag. Together they created 18 films (1 of which is an exclusive bonus earned separately), enhanced by any desirable filming locations they could attain, and they aim to celebrate with one final epic Film Fest party!
Will I play be able to play without the full Cinegnome collection?
Yes, with the wide variety of cards, their abilities and bonuses apply without need to have every card in the series active in the game. The Travellers all share the same abilities and bonuses, as do the Swag, and properties, inspiration, and film fest events give boosts themselves. Of course, collecting them all gives more chance for scoring in the game and defeating the Blue, but they aren't all necessary to enjoy playing with the Cinegnomes.
What is the bonus Film Fest card?
The Cinegnomes hid one final bonus Film tracking code (discoverable at geocaching.com) across 6 of the 17 Film Fest Premiere cards! If you are able to find the hidden pattern, not only will you be able to discover the bonus film trackable, but while supplies last, you will also be able to attain the 18th and bonus Cinegnome Film Fest Premiere card and a Cinegnome Flashtag!
How does the Film Fest Premiere card work?
Premieres (and Screenings) are a Team Inspiration card, and with only one allowed in play for a player, they stack all other Scored Cinegnome set cards under it. Multiple film Premieres can stack with each other as they are attained and played (more films for the party!). The more film locations, inspirations, travellers, and swag are stacked, the bigger the end-game bonus and Film Fest party!
If other CG cards were scored before a Premiere card is played, those prior CG cards may be moved from the player's score stack to the CG stack.
What is the difference between the Film Fest Screening and Film Fest Premiere cards?
The Screening cards were created and distributed before and during the Geocaching International Film Festival to buyers and event hosts. They are exclusive, limited, collectible, and are still playable in the game.
The Premiere cards represent the same films, and can be played the same way, but are also serve as an UPGRADE for any Screening cards (they don't need to name the same film). If you do own and have a Screening card in play, you may then upgrade it with any Premiere card AND earn a bonus defeat against a Blue. At that point the stack remains the same - any Cinegnome series card that is Scored can be stacked together with a Screening/Premiere for an end-game bonus.
What is the difference between the Filming Location Geocache property and the Film Location Inspiration?
The Geocache Property card alters a Geocache by giving it a bonus for the Travellers when it's found. If your team also includes a Geocache Vlogger (skill), they earn a bonus because vloggers love great locations to enhance the videos they create!
The Inspiration is a Region Effect that applies to the current Region the team is in. Once a Geocache is found that holds a Cinegnome Traveller, the effect card can be scored (if you leave the Region, an unscored Effect is Discarded and cycled back into general play). The CG Travellers' goals also include scouting for filming locations, so when this happens, the Traveller being found MAY be scored for its completed goal. If not, it continues as any other Found Traveller card.
Are there misprints in the Cinegnome set?
Indeed, a few of the initial run of cards were tweaked graphically for consistency and wording. Which one? Maybe you'll spot them!
